GEMS Girls: Complete Facilitator Course
This course is designed for teachers, administrators and leaders who would like to offer the G.E.M.S. Girls course. The classes or lessons are designed for a group of 6 – 12 girls, who are of elementary ages 8-10.
This complete course includes all 6 modules or lessons, which can be completed separately and over time. I have typically offered the course as an after-school activity over a period of 6 weeks, with one module or lesson each week allowing for the girls to have time to practice what they are learning. I have also taught the program as a week-long camp meeting for three hours a day with the lessons overlapping as they are taught throughout the week with a daily review of the skills taught in the lessons. You can set up your classes depending on your time available.
The gemstones are a significant piece of the course because they are used as a tangible reminder of what the girls have learned throughout the course, and the girls love them! You can purchase them at a local mystical store in your community to support a local business, or buy on Amazon. I have found small heart-shaped gemstones that are easier to buy in smaller quantities such as 10-20 in an order. The heart-shaped gemstones are a nice touch to use in the program. I purchase small pink organza jewelry bags for the girls to keep the gemstones in until the course work is complete. The small organza bags can be purchased at Michaels in smaller quantities.
