“I know camp isn’t over yet, but I wanted to share that Annabelle has expressed so much admiration for both you and the girls at GEMS!

In just the few days of camp, we have seen such positive changes in her! She’s so much more self-aware and willing to share her feelings! At bedtime, she normally opens up, but the other night, she spilled her soul! We sat for about 30 minutes talking, crying, and laughing. Thank you SO very much! To be honest, because life is hard and the older you get the harder it gets, and school is hard and trying to navigate those emotions and all of the things can be hard, I feel that GEMS really kind of gave that sense of empowerment for them.”

“We are so grateful to Susan Blust for deciding to run a GEMS camp this summer and were able to enroll our 8-year-old daughter. A few years ago, I had heard about Susan’s GEMS after-school club when I was the school social worker at the school where Susan was a teacher. GEMS was always such a hit with the girls and the club would fill up so fast. Now I know exactly why… it is priceless for girls ages 8-11! Our daughter was starting to struggle with some anxiety, figure out friendships and confidence, and navigate emotions that come with being a growing girl. GEMS touched on intuition, friendship, self-love, trust, and confidence. The girls were able to create amazing art, have conversations about the topics, play games to build and teach skills, and have so much fun. They have keepsakes from camp to remind them of all they learned.

Our daughter was in tears leaving GEMS camp after only 5 days and 3 hours together per day because she didn’t want it to end. She felt safe, loved, heard, and confident in herself.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I want to scream from the rooftops to all parents of girls 8-11 to get their girls into GEMS with Susan Blust! She has many years of experience working with girls and knows how to help them be the best version of themselves. These are critical years in which girls define who they are and what their value is in themselves and those around them. What perfect skills to learn before the middle school years.
